This week we had a lot of celebrations. We walked to the skating rink and had a lot of fun skating. Well most of the kids seemed to have fun. I spent an hour trying not to have a panic attack as kids fell on the skating rink. Fortunately all’s well that ends well.
On Wednesday we got lucky to have sunshine for our Fun and Field Day. The kids did 12 different stations, from Pass, Punt & Kick, to Tug of War, to Yoga, to an Obstacle course and Relay Races. It was a great morning. Then we settled in and watched a movie in the afternoon to rest and recuperate.
On Friday we enjoyed our last music concert of the year, hearing from our talented band, orchestra, and chorus. I am so proud of our musicians! We also had a fun Sixth Grade Lunch on the Lawn with cookies and pop.
On Monday of next week, we will celebrate our Dynamic awards from 10:45- 11:30. We hope you can join us to celebrate your children’s achievements, especially if you received an invitation telling you that your child will receive an award.
In between all of our celebrations this week, we finished our simulations. Students gave persuasive speeches in Forums. In the morning class, Team Kahj Mahal (Kaiden, Anthony, Harry, and Jack) won with the most persuasive speech points and cargo boxes left after the journey. In the afternoon class, Team Flickering Fire (Sam, Chloe, Gerald, and Grace) won as well. In Caravans, the students finished their journeys around the world and collected artifacts as they visited various cities. All supplies and artifacts were traded in for gold at the end of the journey. Teams Kahj Mahal and Underdogs (Reid, Michael A., Logan, and Tre) won first place for most gold pieces. Teams AAAO (Alena, Annabelle, Amelia, and Olivia) and Pink Play Buttons (Elena, Alissa, Rachel W., and Ellie) won for most cities visited.
Students also entered writing pieces into our May Madness competition. As we heard pieces of their stories, we voted for which ones were the most gripping that we wanted them to advance in the tournament so we could hear more.
As I say goodbye, I want to wish all of our Dynamic families a safe, fun summer and great seventh grade at Fairfield Middle School. I know you will all have exciting adventures and wonderful experiences. I hope this summer your family makes some amazing lifelong memories. I also hope your children make reading a priority this summer. I hope they read a lot of engaging, thought provoking books and enter seventh grade strong. (Check out my teacher Resource page on the website for tons of summer reading suggestions.) I am so proud of all of my Dynamic students!
Have a wonderful summer!
